Functional Aging and Pain-Free Performance

Since 1990, I have been working with older adults and athletes; many are over 40 and the majority of them are over 50. When I started working with this population, I was in my 20’s and had nothing in common with them. Now I am approaching 55 and a few years ago I discovered I have a disease that eventually destroyed my hips resulting in two hip replacements. It also ruined some of my knee cartilage. So today I am one of my clients and I have suffered the wear and tear of aging! In spite of this, I want to continue to compete at a very high level. I understand what my clients are enduring, because I am one of them!

By combining my unique professional and personal experiences and being one of the best in the world at what I do, I am the one person who can teach you to maintain a pain-free lifestyle and get in the best shape of your adult life, no matter your age.  Watching dysfunctional older adults move is painful for me to see; seeing what they are told to do to help the dysfunction is even more painful for me to watch.  Time is valuable; it is the most important commodity we have! Only professional athletes have coaches, right? No–we have been coaching for over 25 years designing programs to promote a lifetime of activities. With this program, we look into the future and determine long-term goals then we design a functional plan that will last a lifetime. Let’s face it time is going to get all of us in the end, but what we do now and moving into the future will prolong our dynamic lifestyles.

Youth TEDD

Over the years, I have worked with the top youth programs throughout San Diego County addressing functional and postural deficiencies that lead to pain and performance disruption.  My expertise is correcting neuromuscular imbalances triggered by improper training, sport specific imbalances, growth spurts and recovery from injuries that, if not done correctly, will eventually cause compensation and lead to other pain. The young growing body is moldable and the muscular and neurological systems are not difficult to retrain. Young athletes should not be in pain–period!

Second Homeowner & Visitor Training

This is the most intensive and efficient way to train while in town. We will meet frequently and each session will be different. We will address your needs and goals and each workout is designed to stimulate the nervous system to challenge your neuromuscular skeletal system. When you head home, you will have a routine designed specifically to complement the work we did together while you were in town. Updates and program modifications in person or via video conferencing will keep you progressing.

Attire
Please wear comfortable workout clothing and shoes. You will be performing a variety of exercises, some of which are stationary, so please dress in layers.
