Although my full-time job involves overseeing Ted, I am also a client with a personal story.

I started my athletic career at 30, having no sports background during school, which led to a severe back injury. I trained with one of the world’s top female triathletes, but by my third year, I developed issues with my knees and suffered herniated discs. Doctors suggested an epidural or surgery and told me I’d never run again.

Desperate for help, I visited Pete Egoscue at his clinic after Ted recommended him. Pete assured me my back wasn’t the real issue, and I decided to commit to his program. After months of perseverance, I returned to running and biking, eventually winning my first race, the Camp Pendleton Mud Run.

To this day, I race and train in mountain biking, adapting my routines to fit my lifestyle. While I sometimes find the workout routines time-consuming, I genuinely believe I improve each year. Ted and I were fortunate to discover this program, which changed our lives and led me to become a certified personal trainer and start our TEDD Training Center.

I love bicycle racing, especially cyclocross and gravel racing. Last year (2016), I struggled with lower back pain. I felt fine on easy rides but pushing harder made my back seize up, leading to a DNF in my favorite race, The Crusher in the Tushar.

During cyclocross season, I spoke with Ted about my back issue. He confidently said he could help if I followed his program. After a month, I could race hard again without back tightness. I continued the program through winter while skiing and noticed much less soreness than usual.

My lower back pain was gone when bike racing season returned in spring. I tackled steep climbs quickly, and my gravel racing season was a success. Ted increased the intensity of the workouts, and I added strength training alongside stretches. I feel stronger on the bike and look forward to a great cyclocross season this fall.
